Please pray for Pastor Dave & Amy Hetzer as they face this difficult time in their lives with the pre-mature birth of their twin girls. The following is information as it was received from the family.
Thursday, January 14th --
Katelyn and Julianne Hetzer - twin baby girls born by emergency C-section in the early morning of January 14th. They were over 3 months premature. Born to Pastor Dave and Amy Hetzer.
Katelyn at 1 lb 3 oz.
Julianne at 1 lb 7 oz.
They were both born with severe health issues, desperately fighting for their lives. Below are just a few updates as they came to us...
The girls are in a very critical state as of now - it is critical Julianne continues to progress. Katelyn has many issues and is critical, but overall had a good day. I am so thankful that God has allowed our girls to live through the day. They are little miracles.
We are once again heading into the night which has proved to be the most difficult for Julianne. We will do this on our knees in worship and petition for
God's favor.
Katelyn continues to show improvement but Julianne has had it pretty hard- having to be resuscitated several times already.
Julianne had her first good day - the doctors reduced her meds and oxygen levels. She seems to be doing well at this point. Praying for what the night holds...
Julianne did well until about 4am. Her blood pressure began to drop. They then kicked up all her meds again.

Katelyn:

Katelyn had a great night. Praise God.
Tuesday, January 19th --
Julianne Hope Hetzer is now in heaven. She passed away while in our arms at 1:30 this morning.
Katelyn is still continuing to get better with every passing day.
Wednesday, January 20th --
Katelyn continues to do well. Please pray for her. Amy changed her diaper for first time last night.
Just saw Katelyn. She is doing very well. Continues to progress! Mom and Grandma got to touch her for a little bit. Praise the Lord.
Today we picked the place where Julianne will be buried. Although she was only on earth for a brief time she has made a permament imprint on our heart.
Thursday, January 21st --
Katelyn is doing well. Had a great morning. Stats are all good. Blood pressure, oxygen, and heart rate all good. Praise the Lord!
We Just finished preparations for Julianne's funeral. We will be having a graveside service for family only on Tuesday.
Thank you all for your prayers.
Friday, January 22nd --
AM:
Katelyn is doing well. It is important the duct in her heart closes in the next day. If not she will have a surgery that will require them to collapse a lung to get to it. She would get very sick and it would be a long road to recovery, if she makes it through the surgery. We are praying that the duct in her heart closes first so the surgery does not need to take place.
1:45 PM:
Katelyn gave our doctor a scare last night. Her belly turned blue which is a sign of a ruptured intestine. But xrays and other factors showed that didn't
happen. They are watching her belly closely. It would be a bad thing if it does. This is a reminder of how fragile Katelyn's situation is.
Doctor just called. Doing surgery at 4pm pacific time. Going to close the duct. This will require collapsing the lung. Her stomach appears ok and is not affected by surgery. Appreciate your prayers....
We are having a graveside service for Julianne for immediate family on Tuesday at 1:30pm.
We will continue with updates as we receive them.
Please be in prayer for Baby Katelyn's surgery this afternoon.
3:45 PM:
Katelyn's belly is more bruised. Doing another xray. We're praying her intestine does not rupture.
Katelyn's intestine ruptured. She is very sick. They transferred her to Rady's children hospital for surgery. We are waiting to see doctor.
4:00 PM:
We just prayed over our little girl. They are going to do both surgeries. The doctors here are awesome. Will be about two hours.
7:45 PM - Katelyn's surgery:
Surgery went well. Her intestines were best case scenario. Although she is in very critical condition this was a huge hurdle. I thank God for His favor tonight. They were able to close the duct successfully too. So now she needs to recover.
Saturday, January 23rd --
11:40 AM:
Katelyn is very sick, as expected. She has needed more medicines. Stats aren't as good. Her body will have to recover from everything, which is difficult.
There has been no greater source of faith, comfort, and wisdom than that I have found in my Bible reading. Praise God for the Bible and a wonderful Lord and Saviour.
2:18 PM:
Katelyn is still critical. Not doing well today.
7:58 PM:
Katelyn is very sick and there are lots of concerns. Good news is her brain looks ok and she handled both surgerys well. Pray for her little body to heal.
Monday, January 25th --
10:45 AM:
Good report for Katelyn. She is off of ephenefrin and almost off dopamine for blood pressure. She is stabalizing. They are watching her intestines hoping they will improve. Your prayers are working. Praise the Lord.

"And we know that God works all things together for GOOD to those who love Him." Praise the Lord.
3:30 PM:
Katelyn had a good day. Stats were all pretty good. As long as she has an infection she will struggle a bit. Overall this was a good day for her. Getting to touch her each day has become something very hard to not take for granted.
Saturday, January 30th --
10:00 PM:
Katelyn had a decent day. She has been a little up and down. She is being weaned off dopamine again because blood pressure is doing better. But she is not doing well enough on ventilator to go down. Overall she's doing ok. I am very thankful that she is slowly progressing.
Sunday, January 31st --
3:41 PM:
They took Katelyn off of dopamine this morning and her blood pressure has done well. That was a major goal for today. Praying that she can stay off. Everything else is the same. Praise the Lord.

Just got to sit with Katelyn for a while. She is doing pretty well. They have been able to fight infection and pnemonia off. Feeding her more today. She is tolerating feedings. She has these spells where her stats drop real low. Its normal for premature babies. Mom will get to hold her!! Everytime I look through glass at her I am reminded of what really matters.
10:00 PM
Katelyn had a good evening. After struggling with oxygen a little she has really stabilized. They upped her feeding to 2ml. Praise the Lord for a good day.
